If you feel anxious, you can pre-visit our facility to see the MRI machine. During the scan, you can listen to your choice of music through noise-canceling headphones to help you relax.
-
An MRI typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of scan. If your scan includes contrast, it may take a little longer.
Pediatric Imaging

Yes, we assess each child's situation individually to determine if they can undergo a scan without sedation. Non-sedation MRIs are quicker and avoid the risks associated with anesthesia.
-
Typically, children are eligible for a non-sedation MRI around 5 to 6 years old, depending on their ability to remain still during the scan.
-
Children are welcome to bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket to help comfort them during the scan. We also offer our "Puppy Pals Program" where children receive a stuffed puppy that 'needs a scan' too, helping them to stay still during the procedure.
